Breton Hoof Guard Balm is a rich botanical hoof conditioner created to nourish and protect the hoof while helping maintain healthy moisture balance through changing conditions.

Made with botanical infusions of Calendula and Plantain, combined with Castor Oil, Shea Butter and Beeswax, Hoof Guard provides lasting conditioning without the need for an overly complicated formula.

What’s Inside

Calendula-infused oil — traditionally valued in botanical preparations for its soothing and conditioning properties.

Plantain-infused oil — a traditional herbal preparation chosen to complement Calendula and support general hoof care.

Castor Oil — a rich, substantial oil that helps condition the hoof and gives Hoof Guard its staying power.

Shea Butter — provides deep conditioning and helps soften and nourish dry areas.

Beeswax — creates a protective layer and gives the balm enough body to stay where it is applied.

These are combined with High-Oleic Sunflower Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Vitamin E to complete the botanical conditioning blend.

When to Use Hoof Guard

Breton Hoof Guard Balm is designed for regular hoof maintenance, particularly for horses experiencing dry, brittle or weather-stressed hooves and during periods of changing environmental conditions.

It can be used around the coronary band and across the external hoof wall as part of your normal hoof-care routine.

It is a conditioner and protectant rather than a treatment for thrush, infection, abscesses or other hoof disease — those require appropriate hoof-care or veterinary assessment.

How to Use

Start with a clean, dry hoof.

Apply a thin layer of Hoof Guard and massage gently around the coronary band. A small amount can also be spread across the external hoof wall.

You don't need to smother the hoof — this is very much a little-goes-a-long-way product.

Use as required according to your horse's individual hoof condition and environment.

Why We Created Hoof Guard

Hooves don't exist independently of the horse.

Workload, movement, nutrition, environment, moisture and seasonal changes can all influence what we see at ground level. So I wanted Hoof Guard to complement good hoof management rather than promise to be a miracle in a tin.

The result is a straightforward botanical balm designed to do one job well: condition and protect the hoof as part of a bigger whole-horse approach to care.

Good hooves aren't made by one product. But they certainly deserve good care.
