Hardworking bodies deserve thoughtful care.

Whether it’s a horse returning from a long ride, a dog after an active day, or an older animal whose body simply benefits from a little extra attention, Breton Muscle & Recovery Rub has been created to complement massage, bodywork and post-activity care.

With a softer consistency and more glide than our traditional balms, it allows time for gentle massage before gradually absorbing into the skin.

What’s Inside

Arnica-infused oil — the hero botanical of this blend. Arnica has a long history of traditional topical use in massage preparations for hardworking, tired bodies.

Calendula-infused oil — chosen for its gentle skin-conditioning and soothing properties.

Chamomile-infused oil — a beautifully gentle botanical addition, traditionally valued for calming and soothing skin.

These herbal infusions are combined with Grapeseed Oil and Apricot Kernel Oil to provide smooth massage glide without creating an excessively heavy or greasy rub.

Shea Butter and Beeswax give the rub its soft, workable texture, while Vitamin E completes the blend.

When to Use Muscle & Recovery Rub

Breton Muscle & Recovery Rub can become part of your animal's regular body-care routine:

  • Following exercise or activity

  • As part of a gentle massage session

  • Between professional bodywork sessions

  • After a big day of walking, training or competing

  • As part of the regular care of working and active animals

  • For older animals who enjoy gentle hands-on massage

It has been deliberately formulated without added essential oils, making it suitable for use with both horses and dogs.

How to Use

Take a small amount and warm it between your hands. Massage gently into the desired muscular area using comfortable, flowing movements.

You only need a small amount to begin with—you can always add more if you need additional glide.

Apply to intact skin only and avoid the eyes and mucous membranes.

More Than Just the Rub

One of the reasons I created this product is because massage doesn't need to end when a professional bodywork session does.

Owners can play an important role in their animal's ongoing wellbeing simply by learning to observe, touch and notice.

Regular gentle massage gives you an opportunity to become familiar with what's normal for your animal—their muscles, their reactions, where they enjoy being touched and when something suddenly feels different.

Breton Muscle & Recovery Rub isn't designed to replace bodywork. It's designed to help continue the conversation between sessions.

A few quiet minutes. Your hands. Their body. And a little botanical support for the hardworking animals who give us so much.
