BRETON EQUINE PERFORMANCE RUB

$30.00

Prepare • Perform • Recover

Performance isn't only about what happens in the arena.

It begins with preparation, continues through the work, and includes how we care for the horse afterwards.

Breton Equine Performance Balm is a specialised botanical massage balm created for working and performance horses as part of their regular conditioning, massage and post-work recovery routine.

With Arnica, Comfrey and Calendula infused oils, complemented by the aromatic qualities of Rosemary and Lavender, this is a more targeted equine-only formula designed for hardworking bodies.

What’s Inside

Arnica-infused oil — the hero botanical of the blend. Arnica has a long history of traditional topical use in massage preparations for hardworking and tired muscles.

Comfrey-infused oil — traditionally used externally in herbal preparations associated with body and tissue care. Its inclusion helps distinguish Performance Balm from our everyday Muscle & Recovery Rub.

Calendula-infused oil — provides gentle botanical skin conditioning and complements the stronger performance-focused herbs.

Rosemary Essential Oil — adds the distinctive fresh, herbal aroma of the Performance Balm and has a long tradition of use in massage preparations.

Lavender Essential Oil — balances the rosemary with a softer aromatic note and complements massage and post-work routines.

These botanicals are blended with Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax and Vitamin E to create a balm with enough glide for massage while still absorbing into the skin.

When to Use Equine Performance Balm

This balm is designed specifically for horses whose bodies are regularly being asked to work — whether that's competition, training, trail riding or another physically demanding discipline.

It can be incorporated into:

  • Pre-work massage and preparation

  • Post-training massage

  • Competition and conditioning routines

  • Recovery days

  • Regular maintenance massage

  • Between professional bodywork sessions

It can also be a useful way for owners to become more familiar with their horse's body and notice changes in muscle tone, sensitivity or response to touch.

How to Use

Take a small amount and warm it between your hands before applying.

Massage gently into the desired muscular area using comfortable, flowing movements. Start with a small amount and add more if additional massage glide is required.

For external equine use only. Apply to intact skin only. Avoid the eyes and mucous membranes and do not allow ingestion.

Performance Is More Than Competition

One of the principles behind Breton Animal Wellness is that performance doesn't simply mean ribbons, times or results.

A performance horse might be competing at a high level, working cattle, heading out on endurance rides, attending pony club or carrying its owner along the trails every weekend.

If we're asking their bodies to work for us, recovery deserves to be considered part of the work too.

That's why Breton Equine Performance Balm isn't intended to be something you reach for only when something feels wrong.

It's about incorporating hands-on care into the horse's normal routine — feeling the muscles, noticing changes and giving the body some attention both before and after the work.

Performance Balm vs Muscle & Recovery Rub

There is an intentional difference between the two.

Breton Muscle & Recovery Rub is our gentler, essential-oil-free everyday massage product for dogs and horses.

Breton Equine Performance Balm is the more specialised horse-only formulation, bringing together Arnica, Comfrey, Rosemary and Lavender for owners wanting a dedicated botanical massage product for the working equine body.

Prepare the body. Respect the work. Support the recovery.
