Faecal Egg Count testing is available for horses, cattle, sheep and goats.
A Faecal Egg Count measures the worm eggs being passed in the submitted sample. It can help owners make more informed parasite-management decisions and reduce unnecessary routine drenching.
1–10 individual samples: $10 each
11–20 individual samples: $8 each
Discounted samples must be submitted together from the same property.
Tuesday: 8:00–10:00 am or 4:00–6:00 pm
Friday: 8:00–11:00 am
An insulated polystyrene collection box will be placed at the front of the property during these hours.
Please complete the online submission form and arrange your drop-off before collecting the sample.
Once your submission has been confirmed, you will receive:
The private Yinnar South drop-off address
Full collection and labelling instructions
Your arranged drop-off time
Sample identification details
Sample pots can be collected beforehand if needed, by prior arrangement.
Each sample must be:
Freshly collected
Clearly labelled with the animal’s name or sample number
Placed in a clean, leakproof container
Sealed and double-bagged
Kept cool, but not frozen
Delivered during the arranged collection hours
Samples that are unlabelled, contaminated, frozen, too old or insufficient in quantity may not be suitable for testing.
A Faecal Egg Count is only an indication based on the particular sample submitted. It does not provide a complete picture of the animal’s total parasite burden and does not reliably detect every parasite or life stage.
Results should be considered alongside the animal’s health, age, history and veterinary advice. Breton Animal Wellness does not diagnose illness or prescribe veterinary treatment.
